EA Sports is taking a leaf out of NBA 2K’s book with a new-look career mode centered on one player. FIFA 17’s "The Journey" will presumably be announced at the company's E3 press conference on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles. FIFA 17 Fans spoke and EA listened. This year, FIFA 17 will feature the first ever story mode in the franchise series. Following the release of the brand new FIFA 17 trailer, EA revealed the drastically improved graphics with the Frostbite Engine and the most notable addition of  “The Journey.” 

 

With the EA Play press conference still an hour from kicking off, we had already seen news about Titanfall 2 after a demo was accidentally shown when EA published a rehearsal of its E3 show. The release date is October 28 and the biggest change is a single player campaign that you'll be able to play offline. My colleague Sean Hollister managed to get hands on with the game. It’s not yet clear what extra potential this brings to FIFA 17’s gameplay. 

 

When asked, senior producer Nick Channon spoke about atmosphere and drama, and the scope for collaboration with DICE and other EA studios using the same technology. The sequel to Respawn’s thrilling but rather short-lived multiplayer shooter Titanfall was given its first proper airing. Unlike the first game there will be a single-player campaign, and in the multiplayer stakes there will be six new Titans, each with their own weapons and customisation options, as well as a deeper FIFA 17 progression system. 

 

That’s according to Respawn head Vince Zampella. There will be a ‘technical test’ for the multiplayer before its 28 October release date. As summer steadily rolls along, there’s no better time to catch the many futbol matches the season has and will have to offer. Two of the major tournaments currently going on, Copa America and UEFA Euro, respectively have already gifted fans some amazing action in the early going. For the clubs who shall be participating in the upcoming summer Olympic Games, there’s no doubt those particular clubs will be using this time to test players while tightening up their squads.

 

For the rest of us peasants who aren’t necessarily gifted at a professional level, catching these exciting moments on television will be as close as we get. Fortunately. For now, at least, the focus is on improving presentation. At one point in the demonstration, the team shows off an impressive aerial shot of Old Trafford, with a cloud of humidity caught in the floodlights. Each new day brings a new challenge for young Alex; successfully completing objectives and playing well in games not only brings Alex closer and closer to his goals, but also continues the growing attention he’ll receive off the field. 

 

This is where his “personality” will take shape or, shall I say, how the user shapes it. When you answer interview questions in a certain way or choose in which way Alex will conduct himself, it will have different character-building effects, qualities that can also bleed over onto the field. Been answering question in a stern or harsh way? His attitude on the pitch may reflect a more aggressive side. FIFA 17: FIFA is basically a license to print money so there was no way that EA wasn't going to announce something new. The FIFA 17 trailer was released ahead of the conference and showcased a brand new story mode that has you playing as Alex Hunter as he make his way through the English Premier League.
