NBA 2K15 made a statement on the Next Generation consoles and NBA 2K16 was no exception. Now it’s time for NBA 2K17 and it seems as if there will be no stopping NBA 2K as being the best simulation basketball experience on the market. NBA 2K15 introduced an in-game TV show, 2KTV (hosted by Rachel DeMita).

It’s a show gives players the inside scoop on how NBA players, celebrities, and devs use different strategies to compete in the game as well as feature highlights from different gamers in the community. Recently 2KTV had its first Post Season Episode where Rachel headed over to 2K headquarters to dig up some dirt on NBA 2K17. Defensive AI is smarter than ever in 2K17, smoothly transitioning coverage in a zone, and picking up on driving players more quickly than in the past, while the new defensive coverage meter gives a visual indication of how you’re doing on D.

Combined with changes to defensive movement, playing off the ball feels more real than in the past. 2K will be dipping their toes into the controversial waters later this fall when they release NBA 2K17, which will feature ten college teams - Arizona, Arizona State, Georgetown, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, UConn, Villanova, and Wisconsin. You'll find no shortage of DLC to purchase in NBA 2K17. There are countless superficial goods from licensed and original apparel to hundreds of animations, from passes to slam dunks to celebrations, all authentically pulled from the real world NBA players they are associated with.

That’s a lot of money for tattoos, especially when it involves five players. NBA 2K17 is one of the most realistic sports games out there but they’re not the only ones to use tattoos. FIFA 16 has Messi with the tattoo on his arm and the upcoming UFC 2 game has them too. A similar case occurred three years ago, when the designer that created Mike Tyson’s facial tattoo also filed a lawsuit against the makers of The Hangover Part 2. In the film, a tattoo similar to Mike’s appears on the face of one of the characters during the opening scene. This case was settled out of court.

"NBA 2K17" is still the sexiest basketball series in gaming, but it hasn't made the jump in progress that the Live series has this year. It's never easy to be the king, but away from new modes, the core gameplay feels extremely similar. Hardcore fans will love all the new content, but with a host of small bugs, the game needs a quick and dirty patch before it's as polished as it should be.
